About Jacob England

Jacob England is the author of this website and one reader of Custody of the State.

Reading History

Jacob has long been interested in the genre of books such as Custody of the State: fast-paced books written from a Christian perspective. His interest in this genre started off around 3rd grade, when he was introduced via his parents and his church library to the series Left Behind: the Kids, a spin-off of the Left Behind series which dramatizes one view of Christian end-times theology. It took him a very long time to read this series, as it was a long series written for teens and young adults. However, he continued to enjoy it, and read other books from the same group of authors through 6th grade. In 7th grade, he began to get into secular dystopian fiction, reading series such as The Maze Runner. In 8th grade, he was introduced to some new authors from the fast-paced Christian genre, such as Joel C. Rosenberg and Craig Parshall, who wrote Custody of the State.

Reading Habits

Jacob's habits when reading tend to vary based on which book he is reading and his current schedule. While he enjoys reading and attempts to make time for it, he has a very busy schedule during the school year that often makes it difficult for him to find the time to read. Additionally, when his book has not reached the point where it starts to pick up in pace, he can find it difficult to want to make time for that book specifically. However, once it begins to pick up in pace, he will read it at every spare moment - when Custody of the State started to get really exciting, he was able to finish half of the book within twenty-four hours.

Favorite Genres and Books

Jacob is very interested in the fast-paced Christian genre of books. He enjoys books written by authors such as Jerry B. Jenkins, Joel C. Rosenberg, and Craig Parshall. His top five favorite books that he has read would likely be the following:

  1. The Copper Scroll - Joel C. Rosenberg

  2. The Westing Game - Ellen Raskin - Outside of the genre, but still a very enjoyable book

  3. The Last Jihad - Joel C. Rosenberg

  4. The Resurrection File - Craig Parshall - Precedes Custody of the State in the Chambers of Justice series

  5. The First Hostage - Joel C. Rosenberg

Jacob is less interested in books that are slower-paced, and he especially has no interest in reading books that are not clean.
